Many bathroom vanity units now are looking more and more like furniture. If you are purchasing a bathroom vanity unit that is similar to a piece of furniture you are going to have to check the height, the pipes and how the piece will be affixed to your wall and floor. When it comes to vanity units that are similar to furniture pieces you are going to have to make sure that the floor in the bathroom is very level. Many of these pieces have feet and if the floor is not level or even the slightest bit off it will not sit correctly. With a more traditional vanity unit that has a full bottom and sits flush on the floor, you have the option to use a shim if necessary.
When you are purchasing vanity unit, whether it is a corner unit, a furniture style unit or a standard unit you will learn that you also may have to choose if you want to have one that has the sink already in it and attached or if you are going to purchase the sink separately. Many times you do not necessarily have the choice. If you are purchasing a piece that is more modern or looks like a piece of furniture the sink might be affixed and part of the unit. You are then going to have to make the decision of what color you are going to get. You should try to match the sink to the color of the toilet and the color of your tub. You will also have to choose your handle fixture as well if you have the choice to. Those are sometimes preset as well.
Purchasing a new vanity unit for your bathroom can be a lot of fun if you take your time, go shopping prepared with measurements and questions and have all of your colors set.
