Bathroom Vanities

The best bathroom vanity units for the toilet area are the ones which fit into your decor, have the capacity to efficiently hold all of your grooming accessories and are made well. Unfortunately, not all bathroom vanity units are created equal, but these toilet vanity units reviews should help narrow down the shopping list.

Over the Toilet

Freestanding bathroom vanity units which fit over and around toilets are convenient and easy to use. Paper and feminine hygiene products, as well as bathroom reading material and air freshening sprays are stored within easy reach. This type of bathroom vanity set is also one of the least expensive. At less than $50 dollars, Zenith offers a space-saving shelf system that fits flush against the wall. An excellent choice in this price range, assembly is quick and simple and the unit itself is lightweight.

Zenith hits the mark with their double cabinet system. The white shelving system is a good value and the double cabinet unit is well made. Thin plastic cabinet doors cover sufficient storage space, and the whole structure is quite substantial once assembled.

Not all Zenith products are expensive. At less than $100 dollars, the reasonably priced Country Cottage shelf system fits snugly over the porcelain throne. It has attractive, paneled front doors,an arched display space above the storage cabinet, and is covered in an easy to match white paint. It is also made of wood, not plastic, and is fitted with ceramic door hardware. The one drawback to all the extras is the extra time it will take to put it together. Be sure to set aside a whole day for this project.

Similar over the toilet cabinet units tend to cost a little more, but for the price, they offer more elaborate designs and additional storage. One example is the Nassau ‘spacesaver’ from Southern Enterprises. Named Nassau for it’s louvred, plantation style cabinet doors, this is an attractive piece of furniture.

The Nassau is just under $200 dollars. It is finished in a matte white paint, has two adjustable height shelves inside the cabinets, and is fitted with two sliding drawers under the doors. The higher price of the Nassau comes with more than just evolved aesthetics; it is easy to assemble and stands sturdy when complete.

Stand Alone Cabinets

The Nassau line offers bigger stand alone vanity units, as well. In particular, the Nassau ‘towel safe.’ Featuring the same beach house style louvred front doors from top to bottom, the Towel Safe is priced under $150 dollars. The 37.5 inch tall storage unit has two shelves, is painted white, and stands just off the ground with feet on every corner. This is a great looking, well-made piece with plenty of storage.

For those who require more towel and accessory space, the five foot tall Antique White Armoire from TDM is an excellent value. For less than $200 dollars, the armoire has a clean design with subtle antique detailing. It is a solid unit, weighing over 120 pounds and is made with furniture grade MDF painted a distressed antique white.

With shelves more than 16 inches deep and about 2 1/2 feet wide, this unit will hold a large number of towels and bathroom accessories. A first choice for someone who has the room to set it in.

ClosetMaid offers an cheap bathroom vanity with clean lines for about $100 dollars. It is two feet wide, five feet tall and features twelve inch deep shelves; two fixed and two adjustable. Customers have a choice of white or alder finishes, and as with many ClosetMaid products, the assembly is fast and easy.

No matter which piece you choose, always be sure the design and the storage space are ample for your needs; and always buy the best quality you can afford.
