Bathroom Vanities

Sometimes updating an entire bathroom is too much to do at one time, whether for financial reasons or other factors. However, by implementing some basic updates, the bathroom can take on a whole new look. One great way to give the bathroom that new face is to have a white bathroom vanity, as everything else can work around it.

If the existing vanity is white, it is all set, and the rest can begin if not, there are a couple of possibilities. The obvious one is to replace it. The other one is to paint it. If the existing vanity is wood, it can be painted using a good oil paint and will look like new. Some people prefer a matte look, while others like a gloss. For a bathroom, gloss is a better choice as it can easily be cleaned. The white glossy finish will also look neat and clean, and can work with different decors, from modern to cottage.

Once the vanity is that nice and white, think about the hardware on it. Does it need an update, too? Replacing hardware is an instant update and just matches it to the style of the bathroom and it is all set. Now with the new vanity, the fun can begin.

Using a white vanity in the bathroom opens up all sorts of options for decorating. The charm of decorating a bathroom is the small space and the use of interchangeable accessories. Towels are great bathroom accessories, and with a white vanity, depending on the wall color, the choice of colors is wide open. For that cottage look, go with more of a floral, feminine, or pastel towel, for a contemporary look; choose some of the great animal prints or geometrics on the market right now.

As for paint colors, if that is something being redone, remember the vanity is the focal point, and work around the white. Does the bathroom call for a soft pastel to complete the cottage look? Maybe something barely off white, with a touch of blue or green would work. Alternatively, play with the bright colors and choose a cheery blue. Golden tones and warm neutrals always work well in a bathroom as they look nice on most skin tones and will coordinate with the white bathroom vanity; these colors can be played up with gold accessories and warm colored towels.

An update refreshes a space, and it does not always have to be a total redo. With some cans of paint, new towels and a touch of hardware, a white vanity in the bathroom can become the focus of a stylish new bathroom.
